Rochester’s rich musical heritage is expanded with the Rochester Mandolin Orchestra, a collaboration of regional musicians highlighting the mandolin family of instruments. We perform a variety of classical, ethnic, traditional, and other popular scores in a modern setting. The orchestra typically maintains 12 – 16 players with a variety of mandolins, octave mandolins, mandolas, mandocellos, classical guitars, and basses that produce a bright entertaining sound.
Performances are held at a variety of local venues, including churches, libraries, senior living facilities, as well as the Little Cafe.
This collaboration started in early 2019 with monthly gatherings hosted at Bernunzio’s Uptown Music and has evolved, post-pandemic, into an established community orchestra.
Founders Ken Luk, Music Director and Tom Napoli, Managing Director continue to develop a repertoire that honors the tradition of mandolin orchestras with a variety of musical genres.
Rehearsals are held most Saturdays, 10:00 – 12:00, at the Asbury First Methodist Church, 1050 East Ave.
